Description
This lino print was inspired by my solo retreat to the Isle of Eigg. Eigg is famous for it’s self sufficiency using renewable energy sources such as the wind farm shown in this lino print. Arctic Terns were one of the many amazing birds I watched on the island. They are very distinctive with their flashes of orange and grey. Their angular wings have seen they called sea swallows due to the resemblance of their silhouette. I sketched this Tern and then hand carved the lino plate. I used a blue black traditional printmaking ink and produced a small edition of 6 on my studio Gunning Press. Each print measures A4 on 50cm x 35cm Fabriano Unica printmaking paper which has a 50% cotton content
