Description
‘Nesting’ is an original limited edition of Lino prints on Lokta paper. The eggs of oystercatchers are coloured and marked in such a way that they blend in with the rocks and pebbles of the beach and are camouflaged from potential predators. I drew, carved and handprinted this edition of lino prints on lokta paper and Japanese Okawara washi paper. Each bird has had her orange beak hand painted using Sennelier watercolour paints. I use caligo relief ink which has a linseed base.

Lokta paper is beautifully textured and natural. It is handmade in Nepal by local makers from the sustainable Lokta bush.
Okawara paper is a strong yet light Japanese Washi paper made in the Awagami factory by artisan makers.
