Description
This linoprint shows a proud mistle thrush amongst bluebells and ferns on the Isle of Eigg. Eigg is famous for being self sufficient using renewable energy sources which is why I included some of their wind turbines in this piece.
My process involves drawing and watercolouring an image then developing a composition I like. I then hand carve the reverse image on a linoplate. I chose a blue black relief ink to print this plate onto Fabriano Unica printmaking paper. This paper has a lovely 50% cotton content. I then printed a very small limited edition of 4 using our studio Gunning Etching Press. I handpainted the bluebells using Sennelier watercolours.
The print measures 33 x 30cm and the paper 50 x 35cm.
