Description

goldfinches on teasels

The Latin name for a Goldfinch is ‘ Carduelis Carduelis’, hence the title of the original lino print.

Goldfinches make a distinctive noise and with those vivid reds and yellows, they are unmistakable.  They are often see flying around in pairs.  In fact there are a pair I often see and hear in my local nature trail.  They are a joy to watch and listen to as they seek out their food.

Goldfinches on teasels is a celebration of the delicate, fine beak of the goldfinch and how it perfectly adapts to seeking out teasel seeds. I hand paint the vivid colours with watercolour.

This print is just over A3 in size and is on Fabriano Unica printmaking paper. I use Caligo traditional linseed oil based ink and Sennelier watercolours.
