Description
Badger print drypoint. This little drypoint of a badger shows them enjoying the wind blowing in their ears. Did you know badgers are the UK’s largest carnivore? A social group of badgers is called a clan. The underground setts they inhabit can be up to 50 metres long with several different entrances. Their most important sense is smell. Through scent glands producing different odours they can learn different information from each other and their surroundings. Incredible creatures don’t you think?
My process involves etching using a drypoint tool straight onto an aluminium plate. Next, I ink the plate, wipe it and then pass it through a huge Gunning Etching Press using black etching ink. The paper is a beautiful white Fabriano Unica 50% cotton printmaking paper.
Every print I create is unique due to the intaglio process of wiping the plate and then printing onto damp, high quality printmaking paper containing cotton.
