Arctic Skua lino print
An Sgùrr, also known as the Sgurr of Eigg, is on the Isle of Eigg and is one of the most unusual features of the island.
Imagine that the hand of a giant has lifted an enormous rock and dropped it right in the middle of the island. It is drizzling rain with low clouds lingering over the mountainous peak. I am surrounded by many birds but hear the most peculiar call of one I cannot recognise. The Arctic Skua. Protecting their territory and warning me off.
A solo retreat to the Isle of Eigg provided me with endless inspiration resulting in this print. The Skua hovers over ground warning all who can hear them not to come near.
Arctic Skua lino print uses blue black traditional ink on cream coloured Fabriano Unica printmaking paper.
It measures A4 on 50 x 35cm paper printed on a Gunning Etching Press.
